Mike has 40 years’ experience as a planning and development consultant throughout the UK, having been based in both London and Manchester. For 22 years, Mike headed up the Manchester office of Roger Tym & Partners, until April 2011, when he became a founding partner in hollissvincent.

His experience as an adviser to public sector clients on town planning, urban regeneration, housing and economic development issues has enabled Mike to act as the interface between his private-sector developer and housebuilder clients and public-sector decision makers. In recent years, Mike has focussed on the retail and residential sectors, but he also enjoys considerable experience with respect to public transport services and employment land issues.

Mike has substantial experience as an expert witness, having been involved in call-in and appeal inquiries and Examinations in Public throughout the country. Mike has also given witness statements to the High Court.

Mike’s philosophy as a planning consultant is to succeed through sound and compelling evidence, through case making and through negotiation and consensus. It is this philosophy that has led to Mike’s success in dealing with some of the most complex and controversial developments that have been proposed over the past thirty years.
