One of Mike Holliss’ key strengths lies in the preparation and presentation of evidence at Public Inquiries and Examinations in Public. He has worked with most of the UK’s leading barristers, and has helped clients to achieve a very high success rate. Mike has also provided witness statements in various High Court proceedings.
Expert Witness
The firm is the retained consultant for ten separate local authorities, providing advice on all retail and town centre matters, with a particular focus on assisting Councils in determining complex or controversial planning applications.
This role helps Councils to avoid the need for costly Inquiries and Judicial Reviews, through provision of sound independent advice, often in relation to the assessment of competing retail development proposals.

Hollissvincent has undertaken Retail Needs Assessments for Birmingham City Council, Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council Sunderland City Council, and Tameside Council. All of these studies have formed part of the evidence base for the LDF process.
